TAED (tetraacetylethylenediamine) is a bleach activator that reacts with a source of hydrogen peroxide to produce peracetic acid. Peracetic acid is a powerful stain remover for oxidisable stains such as tea, coffee, fruit juices and red wine.

It is a formulation of sodium perborate, tetraacetylethylenediamine and other undisclosed ingredients, widely used in the bleaching industry. Sodium perborate is a known carcinogen widely banned from cosmetic, including toothpaste and OTC products in the European Union. It is not hydrogen peroxide, contrary to what everybody is saying here.
